Brit names two VPs in US marine expansion

Brit Global Specialty USA (BGSU), a subsidiary of Brit, has appointed Will Frohne as vice president (VP), cargo, and Craig McGinnes as VP, yacht, as part an expansion of its marine business.

Frohne has almost 20 years of experience in the marine sector, having most recently served as an assistant region head (marine) at Allianz.

Based in Brit’s New York office, Frohne will be responsible for building Brit’s presence in the US cargo market.

McGinnes has over 20 years of experience in the marine sector, having most recently served as yacht manager for Falvey Marine. Prior to this he served as national yacht underwriting manager at XL Catlin.

McGinnes will be responsible for building the company’s presence in the recreational marine market.

Both Frohne and McGinnes will report to Tom Carroll, senior vice president of marine at BGSU.

Carroll said: "Both Will and Craig bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our new US based Marine business. They are well known in the market as results oriented, relationship driven and customer focused.

“We are delighted to be able to expand our local marine capability, a sector where Brit enjoys a long pedigree. Accessing US distribution in the mid-size marine space enhances our existing Lloyd’s offering and demonstrates our long-term commitment to building a diverse US-based platform.”

Matthew Wilson, Brit Group deputy CEO and Brit Global Specialty CEO, commented: “We have a clear strategy to develop our product set and local presence in markets where we believe Brit can bring a compelling proposition. Further establishing our Marine business in the US is an important part of this, and I am excited by these two excellent hires who will help us further grow our offering.”
