Legacy specialist Compre Holdings has appointed Dr Wolfgang Eilers to the Supervisory Board of Hamburger Internationale Rückversicherung AG (HIR).
Dr Eilers takes up his role as chairman of the Supervisory Board immediately and will also support Compre’s business origination activities in continental Europe, with a particular focus on Germany.
Dr Eilers is a highly regarded industry figure in the German re/insurance markets with over 30 years’ industry experience. In August 2013, he retired from his role as chairman of the Management Board of HIR and CEO of Chiltington International Group when the business was owned by Tawa.
He will work closely with run-off specialist Dr Hubertus Labes, who joined Compre with the acquisition of HIR in August as managing director of Germany and Austria to support its acquisition strategy in these markets.
Nick Steer, chief executive of Compre said: “We are delighted that Wolfgang is joining Compre to support business growth across continental Europe. Wolfgang brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong network of relationships, which will be of tremendous benefit as we look to develop further in Germany and German speaking markets.”
