Cooper Gay Asia strengthens treaty team

Cooper Gay Asia, the Asian arm of the global reinsurance and wholesale broker Cooper Gay Swett and Crawford (CGSC), has appointed Julian Yu as deputy head of treaty, Hong Kong, effective October 2.

Yu will be responsible for production and placement of treaty business in Hong Kong, in addition to developing Cooper Gay’s business in the Chinese market. He will report to David Yip, head of treaty.

“China is a key target for Cooper Gay Asia, and we are committed to growing both our Hong Kong team and our coverage of the Chinese market,” said Yip.

“Julian will provide technical support to our front line people in China and help to deliver reinsurance solutions and the best available market support to our clients. It is with great pleasure that I welcome Julian to the team.”

Yu joins Cooper Gay Asia from Aon Benfield, where he was director for client services. With over 20 years’ experience in the industry, Yu has been a property underwriter for direct and facultative markets in Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong.
