Former SCOR CEO François Négrier passes away

François Négrier, who was chief executive officer of reinsurer SCOR from 1974 to 1993, passed away on Friday, May 1, at the age of 91.

Négrier took over as head of the group four years after its creation in 1970 and actively contributed to SCOR’s development.

SCOR said Négrier notably led the acquisitions of La Vittoria Riassicurazioni and Deutsche Kontinentale Rück at the end of the 1980s, as well as the merger with UAP and SCOR’s subsequent listing on the stock market. He later became an advisor to the group’s senior management, a position he held from 1994 to 2001.

Denis Kessler, chairman and chief executive officer of SCOR, said: “I am deeply saddened by the death of François Négrier. He was a warm, very humanistic man, with a sharp intellect. I salute the memory of a man who, for many years, was the embodiment of the French reinsurance industry.”
