Gallagher Bassett Specialty hires transportation practice leader

Gallagher Bassett Specialty has hired a new senior vice president and transportation practice leader of the major case unit (MCU), which focuses on severe, complex and high exposure claims.

Doug Betkowski (pictured) will be responsible for the continued growth of the MCU, talent recruitment and market relationships. He succeeds Keith Dunlap, who has retired.

Betkowski has more than 35 years' experience in the insurance claims industry. Most recently, he served as the corporate director of Claims & Litigation at Swift Transportation where he managed the oversight, processing and handling of all bodily injury and physical damage claims from intake to subrogation/recovery, among other responsibilities.

Betkowski is a member of the Transportation Industry Defense Association (TIDA) Board of Directors and has served or currently serves on the Judicial Fairness Committee, Advanced Seminar Committee, Cargo & Skills Seminar(s) and the Membership Committee. He also serves on the American Law Firm Association (ALFA) Client Advisory Board.
