Greenlight Re Ireland appoints former Liberty exec as CEO

Specialist property/casualty reinsurer Greenlight Re Ireland, a subsidiary of Greenlight Capital Re, has promoted a former Liberty Insurance executive to the position of chief executive officer.

Patrick O’Brien joined Greenlight Re Ireland as general manager in June 2016. Prior to that, he was chief executive of Liberty Insurance Ireland for three years.

O’Brien initially joined Liberty in 1999, and served as chief operating officer of Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe in London. Prior to Liberty, he worked at The Hartford Group in Bermuda.

Bart Hedges, the CEO of Greenlight Capital Re, said: "Pat has a strong reputation in the insurance market, both in Ireland and internationally. His appointment reflects our commitment and ambitions within the Irish and European markets."
