Guy Carpenter taps Willis Re industry veteran as new president

Guy Carpenter & Company has appointed a  Willis Re executive to take a major lead driving its operations in Asia Pacific.

Michael Harden (pictured) joins as president of Asia Pacific, with immediate effect.

In his new role, Harden will work closely with colleagues and clients across the global risk and reinsurance business’s network of offices in the Asia Pacific region.

Guy Carpenter said Harden will play a central role in expanding the group’s range and enhancing the delivery of the client services it provides.

The new president has more than 45 years of experience in the (re)insurance industry. He joins Guy Carpenter from Willis Re, where he was most recently president of the firm’s Asia Pacific region. He joined Willis Re in Australia in 1991 as a director and became CEO in 2006. During his time at the company, he was also CEO of Willis Re Bermuda.

Based in Australia, Harden will report to Tony Gallagher, CEO of Guy Carpenter in Asia Pacific.

Gallacher said: “We are excited to welcome Michael to Guy Carpenter at a time of significant evolution in the market.

“With over four decades of global operating experience in (re)insurance, handling specialty accounts as well as long-standing industry relationships in the Asia Pacific region, he will certainly add further depth to our already strong presence in the market.”
