Hamilton appoints Guy Carp’s chief economist to board

Hamilton Insurance Group, the Bermuda-based holding company of reinsurer Hamilton Re and Hamilton USA, the organisation’s US property/casualty insurance operations, has appointed Joan Lamm-Tennant to its Board of Directors.

Lamm-Tennant is global chief economist and risk strategist at Guy Carpenter. She is transitioning to the role of chief executive of a Microinsurance Venture Incubator (MVI) launched at the World Economic Forum in January by a consortium of insurance companies including Guy Carpenter and Hamilton Insurance Group.

Since 2012, Ms. Lamm-Tennant has been focusing on an emerging market strategy for Guy Carpenter together with Marsh & McLennan by designing an industry-owned facility intended to create a competitive market for microinsurance.  She was instrumental in establishing the MVI launched in January.

“It is with distinct pleasure that I welcome Joan to Hamilton’s Board,” said CEO Brian Duperreault. “She is a revered business executive, an accomplished scholar and a global thinker. Her passion for innovation matches the strategic focus of Hamilton Insurance Group, and I am delighted to have her with us.”

Lamm-Tennant added: “I am excited about this rare opportunity to work with esteemed insurance and investment leaders who are building a company positioned to excel in and define a new market environment.”
