Hiscox secures AIG/Chubb veteran for top claims leadership post

Specialist global insurer  Hiscox has taken a global leader from AIG with a history at Chubb for the key role of group claims director.

Steve Parry’s (pictured) appointment to the role will be effective from July 1, 2023, subject to relevant regulatory consents.

Parry is set to leave his current position as the global head of technical claims at AIG to join Hiscox. At AIG, he has global responsibility for technical claims across all of its commercial lines of business and personal insurance; driving the group’s claims strategy, providing oversight and governance, and defining and implementing the group response to key events and market losses.

Prior to AIG he spent 14 years at ACE/Chubb where he held various roles, latterly as claims director for the UK and EMEA. He has more tha 35 years of insurance industry experience in positions of increasing responsibility. Earlier in his career, Parry also held a range of claims management positions at AIG Europe.

As group claims director, Parry will lead a global team of claims professionals and be responsible for driving Hiscox’s group-wide claims strategy, setting standards, performance metrics and controls as well as providing technical expertise through a number of centres of excellence. He will be based in London and report to Stéphane Flaquet, group chief operations and technology officer.

Steve’s all-round experience across big ticket and retail in both personal and commercial lines will be instrumental in providing clear strategic direction to our award-winning claims function across the globe.
