Langhorne Re reveals new CEO as Pestcoe departs

Bermuda-based  Langhorne Re, a global reinsurer targeting large in-force life and annuity blocks, has appointed a new chief executive officer (CEO).

The company has promoted its chief operating officer and general counsel Andrew Markus to become CEO of Langhorne Re Bermuda, as well as elected him to the company's board of directors.

Markus replaces Marvin Pestcoe in the role who is set to retire at the end of the year. Pestcoe will remain on the board of directors of Langhorne Re Bermuda through the end of 2021.

Markus has been with Langhorne since its inception, serving as a consultant to the company in connection with its capital raise and then as CEO and general counsel of Langhorne Holdings LLC and its Bermuda-based subsidiaries.

Langhorne is funded with capital commitments from the Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (RGA) and RenaissanceRe and other third-party pension fund and life insurance companies.
