Law firm Devonshires plans to enter insurance space with CMS hire
London-based law firm Devonshires is planning to enter the insurance market, and has hired a senior executive from CMS to develop its new practice.
Stephen Netherway will be joining the company's litigation and dispute resolution team and will help form a new insurance practice area, as part of the firm’s growth strategy.
Prior to joining Devonshires, Netherway was a senior insurance and reinsurance partner in CMS litigation and arbitration group, being appointed partner in 2001. He was also head of CMS UK’s insurance sector at CMS UK.
Netherway is said to have a wide range of experience, particularly in respect to insurance and reinsurance disputes, coverage issues and claims.
Philip Barden, senior partner at Devonshires, said: “Stephen is an excellent lawyer, who will bring a wealth of indispensable knowledge to Devonshires. His appointment will bring a brand new practice, which crucially, will help to shape our expanding Litigation & Dispute Resolution team. Stephen’s appointment reflects our growth and success, and we are delighted to appoint him.”
Netherway added: “I am delighted to be joining such a dynamic and expanding law firm as Devonshires. They are a firm with a vision and whilst not yet well known in the insurance sector the launch of our new insurance practice area, to support their continued success, has hugely exciting potential.”
