Lloyd’s appoints South Korea representative
Lloyd’s has appointed Jin-Yung Sun as its first general representative in South Korea.
He will represent Lloyd’s in discussions with local regulators, assist Lloyd’s with its understanding of the South Korean market and build relationships for Lloyd’s in the region.
Sun has worked in the re/insurance industry for 35 years as both an underwriter and a Lloyd’s broker. He spent the first 17 years of his career in Korea, before relocating to London in 1996 where he held several senior broking roles servicing the Korean market.
Vincent Vandendael, director of global markets said: “I am pleased to introduce Jin-Yung as Lloyd’s first country representative in South Korea. His wealth of knowledge and well established relationships in the industry make him a great asset to the Lloyd’s global team.”
Kent Chaplin, Lloyd’s head of Asia-Pacific, said: "It gives me great pleasure to welcome Jin-Yung to the Lloyd’s Asia-Pacific team. With his extensive experience and deep understanding of both the local and London market, Jin-Yung is the ideal person to represent us in South Korea. I look forward to working with him.”
Sun added: “I am delighted to take on this new role for Lloyd’s. It is a great honour for me having worked with the Lloyd’s market for 20 years. I look forward to establishing new relationships for Lloyd’s on the ground in South Korea.”
