MS Amlin unveils new operating model and revised leadership team

Global re/insurer MS Amlin has unveiled a new operating model and senior leadership team as part of MS&AD’s recently announced reorganisation of its international businesses.

Under the changes, which take effect from January 1, 2020, the Regional Holding company framework will be removed from Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance’s (MSI) three regions, Asia, America and Europe, including MS Amlin. This means MS Amlin will be removed and the corporate entities MS Amlin Underwriting Limited (MS AUL), MS Amlin AG (MS AAG), MS Amlin Insurance SE (MS AISE) and MS Amlin Business Services (MS ABS) will be owned directly by MSI.

MS Amlin’s revised operating model will be made up of its three separate insurance companies plus its shared business service enterprise. Chris Beazley will lead MS AAG as CEO, Tom Clementi will run MS AUL as CEO, Rudy Benmeridja will lead MS AISE in the role of CEO (interim) and Iain Pearce will head up MS ABS as CEO.

The reinsurer said the operating model “simplifies and enhances” its strategic and operational oversight and the new structure was designed to support the implementation of MS Amlin’s new underwriting strategy, announced in September 2019. This underwriting strategy will see the firm redeploy its capital and management focus to its three core markets of reinsurance, specialty and domestic specialty markets in continental Europe. It also supports MSI in building value across its international network by increasing efficiency, expanding its offerings to clients globally, using international talent to greater effect and driving improved financial performance and growth.
