PartnerRe hires AXIS exec as head of health

Bermuda-based reinsurer PartnerRe has appointed Dan Bolgar as head of health, effective November 16, 2015.

Bolgar will be based at the firm’s Minneapolis office reporting to Marvin Pestcoe, chief executive officer, life and health, PartnerRe. He joins the firm from AXIS, where he was CEO, accident and health reinsurance.

Prior to joining AXIS, he was executive vice president at Willis Re, responsible for its global accident and health division.

The appointment follows the announcement by Dennis Heinzig, head of health and president of PartnerRe America Insurance Company, that he will retire in 2016.

“While it is with regret that we say goodbye to Dennis, we wish him all the best in his retirement. He is an experienced and talented leader in the health reinsurance sector and has brought tremendous value to PartnerRe and to the industry over the years.”
