SCOR gets green light for life and health reinsurance branch in Japan

SCOR Global Life has received the approval from the Financial Services Agency of Japan (FSA) to open a branch office in Tokyo, and conduct life and health reinsurance business in Japan.

The new Japanese branch will focus on underwriting, claims and risk solutions to the life and health market, the company said in a statement.

It added that the establishment of SCOR Global Life Japan is part of the group's 'Vision in Action' strategic plan to expand and deepen its franchise, and demonstrates its commitment to the Japanese market.

SCOR has had a presence in Japan since 1983 when it set up Japan Liaison Office.

Paolo De Martin, chief executive officer of SCOR Global Life, commented: "The opening of the branch will enable us to deliver new and innovative solutions to support our customers in the Japanese life market."
