Sompo poaches Aon talent to grow reinsurance business

Bermuda-based specialty re/insurer  Sompo International has hired a senior Aon executive to help expand its global reinsurance business.

Neville Weston has joined Sompo as its new global distribution and product development head.

Reporting to CEO Christopher Donelan, he will focus on enhancing the reinsurance business’ underwriting deal flow and trading capabilities across product lines and geographies.

With 25 years in the industry, Weston joins from Aon Reinsurance Solutions, Bermuda, where he was vice chairman. Before that, he co-founded Bermuda licensed multi-line MGA Helix Underwriting Partners and held executive leadership and broking roles with Aeolus Capital Management and Guy Carpenter.

Donelan said: “With the addition of Neville to our team, we look forward to broadening our distribution network, developing new strategic initiatives and strengthening existing partnerships.”
