StormHarbour hires RBS insurance exec

Financial advisory firm StormHarbour has appointed Jonathan Spry as head of insurance solutions and advisory.

He will report to Antonio Cacorino, managing principal, in London.

Spry joins from RBS, where he was previously head of insurance capital management (structured solutions), and more recently, head of UK insurance coverage. Prior to RBS, he was a senior vice president in the capital markets division Guy Carpenter.

He will focus on developing StormHarbour’s existing insurance capabilities, replicating the success of the firm’s growing structuring & advisory division, providing advisory services, capital management and risk solutions to life and non-life re/insurers, with a particular emphasis on sourcing alternative assets and securitisation structures.

Also joining StormHarbour is Mike Turnbull who has been appointed as managing director, capital markets and will report to Cacorino.

Turnbull has 24 years’ experience in investment and commercial banking, including eight years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he served as head of debt capital markets, prior to his appointment as head of infrastructure financing.
