Swiss Re appoints Canada CEO

Swiss Re has appointed Veronica Scotti as president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Swiss Re Canada.

Scotti will report to Swiss Re Americas president and CEO Eric Smith and will continue to be a member of the company’s Americas management team. She will be based in Toronto.

She joined Swiss Re in 1999 in London when Swiss Re acquired Fox Pitt Kelton, a financial sector boutique investment bank.

Scotti moved into client markets in 2007 and has held a number of positions including head of business development in Zurich, key account manager in Zurich and most recently as a client executive in Armonk.

"Swiss Re has a strong history in Canada writing our first business there back in 1911. Veronica's appointment underlines our continued commitment to the market," said Smith. "She has extensive international experience and I have every confidence that she will maintain, and build on, our reputation as an industry leader in the country."

Scotti added: "I am very grateful for this exciting opportunity. Canada is an important market to Swiss Re and I'm looking forward to working with our clients and staff there."
