Swiss Re appoints EMEA head

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has appointed Tony Buckle as head of its business across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

In his new role, Buckle will remain in Zurich and will be responsible for managing and growing Corporate Solutions’ business in EMEA. He joined Swiss Re in 2006 as head of global engineering reinsurance, where he held responsibility for sourcing and underwriting facultative and treaty business.

“We are excited to have Tony lead our EMEA team,” said Rudolf Flunger, head of regions at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. “A seasoned leader, he will be instrumental in expanding our EMEA business. As we pursue the next phase of growth in this important region, I am extremely confident in his hands-on experience and leadership.”

Prior to joining Swiss Re, he spent 10 years with General Electric, several of which were with GE Insurance Solutions, and held various positions in Spain, Poland, the USA and the UK.

“Corporate Solutions has made great strides in recent years building a strong regional focus in EMEA. I look forward to supporting our clients and brokers as we continue to expand our appetite and commercial insurance capabilities throughout the region,” said Buckle.

Buckle succeeds Fred Kleiterp, who led the EMEA business for four years and now heads Corporate Solutions’ business in Asia Pacific.
