Third Point Re poaches Berkshire Hathaway VP for US underwriting

Bermuda-based Third Point Reinsurance has appointed David Govrin to the position of executive vice president, underwriting for its US subsidiary.

Govrin joins Third Point Re USA after serving for the past seven years as vice president for Berkshire Hathaway's reinsurance group, where he was a key member of the underwriting team.

Prior to Berkshire Hathaway, he founded an insurance private equity fund focused on specialty insurance underwriting and distribution as well as a convergence focused reinsurance intermediary. Govrin spent the majority of his career as a senior executive at Goldman Sachs and Guy Carpenter.

"His extensive experience and relationships across the insurance and reinsurance industries will be a tremendous asset as we continue to execute our strategy of scaling our US underwriting platform."
