Willis Towers Watson hires new head of environmental practice from Allianz

Broker  Willis Towers Watson has hired a new head of environmental practice based in London from Allianz.

Chris Strong (pictured) will be responsible for international placement strategies alongside business development and growth of WTW’s environmental practice, which provides environmental insurance expertise, specialised market knowledge, technical support and claims advocacy services across a wide range of industry sectors, including chemical manufacturing, construction and waste disposal.

Strong was previously at Allianz Global Corporate & Speciality where he was regional practice leader, responsible for the environmental risk business.

Garret Gaughan, head of global markets P&C hub and facultative, said: “Our environmental practice is a crucial part of our overall Global Market P&C offering. In a world that is increasingly focused on damage to the environment from corporate activity, environmental liability is increasingly becoming a key coverage for our clients and we are delighted to be strengthening our team with today’s appointment of Chris Strong.”

Strong added: “I'm excited to be joining such a fantastic team in Willis Towers Watson's innovative environmental practice. I'm looking forward to leading the practice to become a centre of technical excellence in this critically important sector of risk.”
