Willis UK construction trio leave to lead expansion at rival broker

Willis Towers Watson's (WTW's) UK construction practice leaders have joined specialist re/insurance broker   Miller to help accelerate its growth in the UK, international/wholesale and renewables construction and surety lines.

Pauline Goreham has joined Miller as head of construction, with Steve Cox (pictured left) and Jon Burke (pictured right) joining later in September.

Goreham was most recently UK construction and project risks practice leader at WTW. She has over 30 years of insurance industry experience, of which over 20 have been dedicated to construction with experience across UK construction, infrastructure and renewables.

Cox also joins Miller from WTW where he held the position of deputy leader of the UK construction practice. He will be joining as an account executive/producing broker and will focus on the UK construction business, working alongside Dave Cahill to further expand this specialty area, which was launched at the end of 2020. Cox has 40 years’ experience in construction.

Burke was account director in WTW's UK construction practice. His expertise includes experience across contractors, standalone projects and energy from waste projects in the UK. Burke will join Miller as account executive/broker focusing on UK construction in support of Cox and Cahill.

Cox and Burke will report into Goreham, who will report into Martin Henderson, head of energy.

Henderson said: “I am delighted to welcome Pauline, Steve and Jon to Miller to bolster our growth in the construction sector. The team’s significant experience and expertise will enable us to expand our offering to clients, helping them to navigate the complex construction risk environment. We are committed to building market-leading teams with best-in-class talent which are underpinned by Miller’s reputation for delivering excellence in service and claims and I look forward to making further announcements as this project develops.”

Goreham commented: “The opportunity to join Miller presented a huge opportunity to be part of an exciting programme of expansion. Combining the team’s expertise and knowledge with Miller’s independent offering, means we can provide increased choice and a unique value proposition to current and future clients.”
