WTW taps 20-year insider & Columbian team-builder to head Latam

Global insurance broker  Willis Towers Watson tapped a twenty-year insider to lead its Latin American operations following the pending retirement of regional leader Luis Maurette at year-end.

Hector Martinez (pictured), with  WTW or predecessor companies since 2001, has most recently led corporate risk and broking for the region. Leadership posts along the way have included executive director of Willis Limited, CEO at Willis Colombia Corredores de Seguros S.A., and head of Colombia.

Luis Maurette,  WTW's current head of Latin America and head of global sales and client management, will retire on December 31, 2022 after over ten years with the company.

WTW's head of international corporate risk and broking, Pamela Thomson-Hall, commented: “[Hector] is well regarded in the industry for his subject matter expertise and has significant experience in accelerating growth and building client relationships. Hector is a proven leader, known for his ability to influence, build teams and engage talent.”
