SiriusPoint CFO exits after 18 months; replaced by ‘transformation’ expert
Global specialty re/insurer SiriusPoint's chief financial officer (CFO) is leaving the company after less than two years in the role. He joined SiriusPoint as CFO at the end of 2022 from Guy Carpenter.
SiriusPoint has recruited Jim McKinney as new CFO, effective June 3, replacing Steve Yendall.
Yendall joined the Bermudian carrier in November 2022 following the resignation of then chief financial officer David Junius as part of a wider leadership overhaul at the company and arrival of Scott Egan as CEO. Prior to joining SiriusPoint, Yendall was managing director at Guy Carpenter, Canada and North America. He also previously served as CFO and COO at RSA Canada Group, as a member of RSA Canada Group of Companies Board of Directors, and RSA Insurance Agency Inc. (RSAIA) Board of Directors.
As new CFO, McKinney will also join SiriusPoint’s executive leadership team, reporting directly to CEO Egan.
McKinney has more than 20 years of experience. The Bermuda-based re/insurer said he has an established track record as a publicly listed CFO and played “an instrumental role in leading companies through transformations to position them well for growth”.
Most recently, he served as executive vice president and CFO of Kemper Corporation, where he led all aspects of its financial operations, including accounting, treasury, tax, financial planning and analysis, and internal audit.
Prior to joining Kemper, McKinney was executive vice president, CFO for Banc of California. He also held various senior positions at organisations, including International Lease Finance Corporation and RBS Citizens Asset Finance.
Egan said: “Jim’s deep and broad experience as a publicly listed CFO, and his understanding of operational excellence and transformation will be invaluable as we continue to improve our performance and execute our plans to deliver our ambition of being a best-in-class insurer and reinsurer.”
He added: “We thank Steve for his leadership of our finance function over the last 18 months. He leaves with our best wishes for the future.”
