Swiss Re casualty reserves highly discretionary, ‘some’ signals in book

Swiss Re's move to write massive new reserves against its casualty book was predominantly a matter of increased discretionary prudence, with IBNR reserves increasing as a portion of the whole and relatively fewer explicit signals of problems in the existing book, top officials have argued.
