Top Marsh leader pulls out of move to rival WTW
Marsh’s global chief claims officer will not be moving to WTW despite initially accepting the same position at the rival.
Rob Powell (pictured) has resumed his role as global chief claims officer at Marsh. It was previously announced in October that he would leave for a role at WTW.
Confirming the news, Pat Donnelly, president of Marsh Specialty and Global Placement, said: “I am delighted that Rob has decided to stay at Marsh.”
Powell added: “How insurance supports clients in the event of a claim is often the standard on which our industry is judged; it is also a fundamental tenet on which Marsh has built its truly market-leading global claims proposition. I look forward to working with Pat and the team and, in particular, focusing on the deployment of new solutions that enhance our clients’ claims experience.”
As global chief claims officer, Powell leads Marsh’s team of claims advocates around the world, which includes specialised claims management and forensic advisory services. He is also responsible for driving innovation in the claims resolution process, which includes the development of data-led and analytic solutions and the adoption new technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Powell joined Marsh in 2014 and has been in this role since 2016. Before joining Marsh, he was global chief claims officer at Torus Insurance and was president of Cunningham Lindsey International from 2001-2006. Powell has more than 30 years of experience in international loss adjusting, including on some of the insurance industry’s most significant and complex global catastrophic losses.
