Chaucer hires head of energy

Chaucer, the specialist Lloyd’s insurance group, has appointed Michael Dawson as head of the energy practice of Chaucer Syndicate 1084.

Dawson, who has chaired the energy practice since autumn 2013, will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the practice.

He will also remain as active underwriter of Syndicate 1176, which has been under Chaucer management since 2002.

Dawson has significant Lloyd’s, London and international market senior level experience and has served on the Council of Lloyd’s.

John Fowle, active underwriter of Chaucer Syndicate 1084, said: “I am delighted that Michael has agreed to become energy practice head. Michael is a first-class appointment with exceptional industry knowledge and leadership experience and we look forward to the benefit of his expertise and business insight.”

Dawson said: "We have a market-leading energy team at Chaucer, and I look forward to working with them to continue the successful development of our energy practice.”
