Hamilton adds tech veteran to its board to drive innovation
Bermuda-based holding company Hamilton Insurance Group has strengthened its board of directors with the appointment of Mark Barrenechea, a Silicon Valley veteran who the company said will drive innovation through his data science and analytics expertise.
Barrenechea is the chief executive and chief technology officer of OpenText, a Canadian company that develops and sells enterprise information management software, and is credited for building it into a $1.9 billion software company.
He has over 30 years of experience in the technology industry. Prior to this he was the president, CEO and a member of board of Silicon Graphics International Corporation.
He also served Tesseract Corporation for eight years as the vice president, technology and business development, and Oracle for six years as was senior vice president of applications development, a direct report to co-founder Larry Ellison. He has also held executive level positions at CA Technologies.
"It's a pleasure to welcome Mark to our board," said Brian Duperreault, Hamilton's chairman and CEO. "When we undertake a recruitment process for a new board member, we have a set of criteria that includes a commitment to data science and analytics as well as an appreciation for the culture of innovation we're establishing at Hamilton.
"Mark's experience in Silicon Valley and his success in building OpenText into a $1.9 billion company give him a perspective that's an excellent complement to the impressively diverse talents of our other board members. I'm delighted to have him with us."
