Peak Re reveals successor to CRO Roth who leaves in September

Hong Kong-based reinsurer  Peak Re has appointed a new managing director, deputy chief risk officer to succeed Eckart Roth who is leaving in September.

David Menezes (pictured), current chief reserving actuary at Peak Re, will take over from Roth when he retires as CRO in September 2022 after a 30-year career.

Menezes will continue to be based in Hong Kong. In his new role, he will oversee the risk management, compliance and legal functions and report to Franz Josef Hahn, chief executive officer of Peak Re.

Menezes has been with Peak Re since 2016. He leads and sits on a number of industry working groups to advise on the implementation of IFRS17 for general insurance and the launch of risk-based capital solvency standard.

The company said a successor to take over Menezes’ current position is yet to be identified.

“He brings with him more than 17 years of experience in both regional and international insurance and reinsurance, and across different actuarial, reserving and controlling functions. He has worked closely with renowned global and regional insurers and has a deep understanding of enterprise risk management which augurs well for his new role,” Hahn said of Menezes.

“While Eckart's retirement is still a few months ahead, I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his steadfast support and leadership,” he added. “Eckart has been instrumental in the founding of Peak Re and guiding the Company's growth over the past decade.”
