Hiscox appoints joint active underwriter
Michael Krefta, the chief underwriting officer (CUO) of Hiscox Re, has been appointed joint active underwriter for Syndicate 33 alongside Paul Lawrence, CUO of Hiscox London Market.
Krefta will also become active underwriter for Syndicate 6104.
He has been with Hiscox since June 2003 and has worked within both the retail and syndicate parts of the business. He started work at Hiscox as a MI analyst in the retail team before moving into the catastrophe modelling team in the London Market as a senior analyst.
In 2005, he joined the reinsurance team writing on its global reinsurance account before moving on to run Syndicate 33’s North America and Caribbean account in 2012. In May 2014, he became CUO for Hiscox Re, leading its underwriting teams in London, Bermuda and Paris.
