Liberty Specialty Markets taps AIG's UK head of casualty
Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of the Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed Stuart Sutherland as its new head of casualty.
Sutherland joins LSM from AIG, where he served as the UK head of casualty since 2015. Prior to that, he worked for XL Catlin where he was the regional casualty manager for the UK, Australia and Scandinavia.
In his new role based in LSM’s London headquarters, Sutherland will report to chief underwriting officer, commercial, Alan Telford. He will join the company in July, and be responsible for the leadership of LSM’s casualty product line.
“Our casualty book is an integral part of our plans to grow and develop our Commercial division," Telford said. "Stuart brings a powerful combination of excellent technical underwriting skills, significant market-facing experience and strong leadership. Having written a successful casualty book, he is uniquely placed to drive our business forward, growing a market-leading position for Liberty."
