Mapfre Global Risks hires engineering insurance expert

The German branch of Mapfre Global Risks has poached an expert in engineering insurance from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty.

Jan Borchard joins Mapfre Global Risks as a senior underwriter. He was previously an underwriting manager responsible for the erection insurance of large contract works at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty.

Most recently, he focussed on the engineering insurance of the major German power generation companies.

Manfred Alsdorf, director of the German branch, said: “We are pleased we found with Jan Borchard a recognised expert for our team. Jan has excellent connections with our clients and our insurance brokers.

“He will give a significant input for the further development of our engineering insurance portfolio.”
