Munich Re reveals key leadership changes in Asia following departure

Global reinsurance giant  Munich Re has unveiled two leadership appointments in Southeast Asia, including a new chief executive officer (CEO) of Singapore operations.

Tobias Frenz (pictured right) has been appointed CEO of its Singapore operations, replacing James Park, who is leaving to pursue an opportunity outside of the company.

Surbhi Goel (pictured left) has been promoted to managing director and head of property and casualty, Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Frenz has worked for  Munich Re for over 20 years in numerous roles of increasing responsibility. He will continue to hold his existing role of head of digital solutions for life and health in Asia Pacific Middle East & Africa.

Goel joined  Munich Re in April this year from the company’s joint venture in India, HDFC ERGO General Insurance, where she held the role of head of reinsurance and commercial underwriting.

Commenting on her appointment, Roland Eckl, CEO of Asia Pacific at  Munich Re, said on LinkedIn: “With Surbhi taking on her new role, I’m confident that Munich Re is in an even stronger position as a partner to our clients for traditional risk transfer as well as co-creating bespoke solutions to new and emerging risks in the region.”
