Von Bomhard to become Munich Re chairman

Munich Re has nominated former CEO Nikolaus von Bomhard as new chairman of the supervisory board to succeed Bernd Pischetsrieder.

The reinsurer said Pischetsrieder and Henning Kagermann, who are not standing for re-election, will leave the supervisory board of Munich Re at the end of the annual general meeting in 2019.

Von Bomhard has been a member of the board of management of Munich Re from Ja‍nuary 2000 to Ap‍ril 2017, and took over as its chairman in Ja‍nuary 2004. Since Ap‍ril 2018, von Bomhard has been the chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Post DHL Group.

Furthermore, the nomination committee also recommended Karl-Heinz Streibich for election to the supervisory board. From Oc‍tober 2003 to Au‍gust 2018, Streibich was chairman of the management board of Software AG and is the president of acatech, the German Academy of Science and Engineering.
