SIRC to return to physical conference after two years

Finally, the Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC), one of the key re/insurance events globally, is returning to a physical event this autumn – with an online component for overseas delegates unable to attend in person.

The organising committee Singapore Reinsurers’ Association (SRA) has decided to run this year’s 18th SIRC as an in-person event from October 31 until November 3, 2022 at Singapore’s Sands Expo & Convention Centre.

The event was cancelled last two years due to COVID-19 travel restrictions and social distancing measures. The SRA instead ran virtual events to fill the void.

The event is currently in the planning stage. SRA chairman Marc Haushofer (pictured) and executive director Jeffrey Yeo are drawing up plans for a physical event combining a virtual segment, and looking to establish this year’s theme. The committee is also engaging with relevant authorities to iron out logistical and safety issues.

“Our unswerving focus is to ensure that this year’s SIRC is as close as possible to the last pre-pandemic event held in 2019 - delivering both leading-edge insights and unparalleled networking opportunities,” Haushofer was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the SRA Tuesday morning (April 05).

The event features senior leaders and experts from around the world engaging in discussions on a range of re/insurance topics.

“The SIRC attracts delegates from many different markets, most of which have opened up or are in the process of opening up. We want to make sure that delegates will have a safe and enriching experience this year,” said Yeo.
