Swiss Re invites globe-trotting CFO and insurance guru to board posts

Swiss Re sought out a globe-trotter most recently from the Hong Kong Exchange and a re/insurance consulting guru as it moves to refresh its board of directors at the 2023 shareholder gathering.

Vanessa Lau drew (Pictured) a board nomination to joint their ranks. She is chief financial officer of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) with prior stints as VP and senior research analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein, as chief financial officer of Alcoa's Global Rolled Products Group in New York and in consultancies McKinsey & Company and PricewaterhouseCoopers UK.

Pia Tischhauser takes a nomination after having served in Boston Consulting Group (BCG) for a decade. She is most recently an elected member of the executive committee, but has also been the global leader of BCG's insurance practice, tripling its client footprint with leading global and mid-sized insurers during her tenure, Swiss Re noted.

The two would replace current Board members Renato Fassbind and Susan Wagner who will not stand for re-election.

Swiss Re's chair of the board of directors Sergio Ermotti commented: “We are delighted to attract two outstanding professionals for election to our Board of Directors. Vanessa Lau and Pia Tischhauser bring strong expertise in financial services and proven strategic skills.”
