XL Group appoints senior underwriter

XL Group has appointed Paul Le Boutillier as senior underwriter, fine art & specie. He will report to Graham Hawkins, XL Group’s global chief underwriting officer for fine art & specie and is based in London.

“Paul has been working in the fine art and specie market for over 25 years and is recognized for his expertise in the field,” said Hawkins. “His substantial experience in both broking and underwriting jewellers block, fine art, cash in transit and general specie makes him a great addition to the team and further strengthens our ability to write a very broad book of business covering valuable interest globally.”

Le Boutillier, who has spent significant time living and working in Asia Pacific, joins XL Group from Catlin Underwriting Agency. There, he held the position of class underwriter for fine art, jewellers block and general specie, focused on the London and Australasian markets.

Prior to joining Catlin in 2005, Le Boutillier was a director at the Heath Lambert Group, where he worked for two years with responsibility for overseeing the General Specie Unit, the Wholesale Fine Art Unit and the Retail Fine Art Unit globally. Between 1996 and 2003 he worked for HSBC Insurance Brokers. Prior to 1996, he held various positions at the niche broker, Crowley Colosso.
