US insurers still face headwinds, rising investments just a crutch

US insurers have yet to fully turn the corner on financial challenges, with improved investment earnings only masking underwriting conditions still beset by cat risks and other claims drivers, rising reinsurance costs and more, a key US Treasury office has said in an annual review of the sector.
