Chaucer CEO Fowle to helm another Lloyd’s insurer following exit

John Fowle (pictured) has agreed to take the helm of Lloyd’s specialist insurer  Atrium after ending his 20-year journey with  Chaucer.

Chaucer announced yesterday (June 07) that Fowle has decided to step down as group CEO of the carrier after six years in order to pursue new opportunities. He leaves Chaucer at the end of the month.

Fowle will join Atrium as chief executive officer following his notice period. He will replace Richard Harries who is retiring from the firm after 26 years.

Atrium said its current group COO and agency managing director, James Lee, has agreed to take over as acting CEO until Fowle joins Atrium.

Harries’ career in the insurance industry spanned over 35 years. Under his leadership, Atrium saw growth, consistent annual profits, and recently a notable rise in gross written premiums (GWP).

During his 26 years at Atrium, Harries managed complex business transactions through overseeing the merger of two Atrium syndicates in 2011 and navigated Atrium through two major deals to strengthen the company’s position within the industry. Harries also served on various boards including The LMA and LMG Boards.
