Brazil reinsurer Terra Brasis appoints CUO and CCO

Brazilian reinsurer Terra Brasis has appointed Luiz Pestana as chief commercial officer and Paulo Hayakawa as chief underwriting officer, following a restructuring of the business.

Pestana is responsible for the coordination of the reinsurance relationship with insurers, brokers and other partners. He has over 30 years of experience in the re/insurance market, having previously worked at UBF/Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, JMalucelli Re, Munich Re, Marsh & McLennan, Harmony Brokerage Insurance, Kemper Insurance and Cigna Insurance.

Hayakawa is responsible for underwriting all lines of business. He has over 25 years of experience in insurance underwriting and reinsurance, having worked at XL Reinsurance, Insurance RSA, Maritime Insurance and Yasuda Insurance.

Both will report to executive vice president Carlos Zoppa.

Paulo Botti, chief executive officer, believes that the promotions of Pestana and Hayakawa is a natural consequence of their talent and work for Terra Brasis in recent years and that their experience and technical quality demonstrate they are a cornerstone of the reinsurance operation.
