The Hartford mines Chubb for IT leader in drill down on P&C

US insurance group  The Hartford mined rival  Chubb for IT talent for a newly crafted role separating out the technology needs of its P&C divisions.

The Hartford brings in Shekar Pannala (pictured) to the newly created role of chief information officer for property & casualty to lead technology across the company’s personal lines, small commercial and middle & large commercial businesses.

Pannala comes to The Hartford from Chubb, where he served as the global CIO, overseeing technology across the enterprise. Before Chubb, Pannala was chief technology officer at S&P Global. He also held senior management roles at BNY Mellon, where he was executive vice president and divisional chief information officer responsible for asset servicing technology.

The Hartford’s chief information officer Deepa Soni commented: “We’re excited to have Shekar as part of our technology leadership team. His blend of executive management and technology expertise across the financial services and insurance industries make him uniquely suited as The Hartford pursues its aggressive technology agenda. We are on a mission to bring the power and scale of leading-edge technologies to shape the future of insurance for our customers. Shekar’s impressive credentials in technology delivery, customer experience and digital transformation, will help accelerate our digital transformation in the property and casualty business.”
