MGA Carbon makes ‘tremendous hire’ from Everest Re with XL Catlin pedigree
Specialist managing general underwriter and Lloyd’s syndicate Carbon Underwriting has brought on board a new active underwriter from Everest Re. The executive boasts extensive experience, having held senior underwriting positions with XL Catlin and WR Berkley Europe, among others, over a career spanning more than 30 years.
Rob Crocker joined Carbon as active underwriter in April. He was previously active underwriter & head of professional lines at Everest Re.
Crocker will work closely with Carbon’s existing underwriting management team – founder and CEO Nick Tye; Carbon founder and chief underwriting officer Jacqui Ferrier; and Carbon founder and chief technology officer Ben Laidlaw.
Tye said: “Rob is a high calibre individual with extensive experience and a proven track record that make him an invaluable addition to Carbon’s team. Rob is a tremendous hire for Carbon, and testament to the very high regard in which our team is held across the market and our ability to attract and retain top talent. It is important to consider Rob’s hire as accretive to the existing Underwriting management team. Myself, Jacqui and Ben will all remain actively involved in Syndicate Underwriting matters and now will have more time to focus on new business opportunities and our exciting and ambitious growth plans at Carbon Syndicate. We are confident that Rob’s additional expertise in underwriting will contribute to our continued growth and success.”
Crocker said: “Joining Carbon is a really exciting move for my career – I have been particularly impressed with Carbon’s data-driven and tech-focused approach to underwriting. This strategy combined with the innovative and team-focused culture at Carbon aligns perfectly with my vision for advancing underwriting practices in today’s dynamic market landscape. With our dedicated expertise, a commitment to innovation, and a focus on delivering exceptional results, I am excited about the opportunities ahead.”
